Dougherty hails Faldo's leadership skills
Nick Dougherty hailed Nick Faldo's leadership qualities after he masterminded Great Britain and Ireland's victory over Continental Europe in the Seve Trophy. Faldo, who is the European team's captain at the Ryder Cup in Valhalla next year, led his side to a 16.5-11.5 victory after taking eight out of 10 points in the final day's singles matches.

Great Britain and Ireland produced an excellent afternoon display in the Seve Trophy, despite a dreadful morning performance. They lost 3½-½ in the morning session but rallied in the afternoon to finish the day on 9½-8½ to Continental Europe.

Europe take the lead in the Seve Trophy
The European team shaded the first day of the Seve Trophy after beating Great Britain and Ireland 3-2 in the fourball competition at The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort in Ireland. European debutants Peter Hanson, Gregory Havret, Markus Brier and Mikko Ilonen all helped Seve Ballesteros' team snatch a point advantage.

Warren and Dyson out to make an impression
Marc Warren and Simon Dyson are determined to justify their place in the Seve Trophy this week. The two were picked by Great Britain and Ireland captain Nick Faldo as his wildcard entries for the competition against Seve Ballesteros' European team. The tournament starts on Thursday at The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort in Killenard, Ireland.
