Colchester appoint Lambert
Colchester United have appointed Paul Lambert as their new manager. The Scotsman, who won the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund in 1997 as a player, succeeds Geraint Williams, who left the club by mutual consent last month.

League One round up: Foxes stay on top
Lloyd Dyer grabbed a dramatic late winner to give Leicester City a 3-2 win at Huddersfield and keep the Foxes to the top of League One. Matty Fryatt's second-half double had given the visitors a two-goal lead before Gary Roberts and Liam Dickinson equalised for Huddersfield - but Dyer had the last laugh as City claimed the points.

Williams leaves Colchester United
Colchester United manager Geraint Williams has left the club with immediate effect, it has been announced. The club are second from bottom in League One after losing three of their opening six games following their relegation from the Championship last season.

League One round-up: Leicester survive Orient scare
Leicester City scored twice in the final three minutes to steal the points in an entertaining affair at Leyton Orient. Matt Fryatt and Andy King both netted late on to seal a 3-1 win, but the Foxes were made to sweat after Orient's Adam Chambers had cancelled out Lloyd Dyer's opener.

Allen appointed at Cheltenham
Martin Allen has been confirmed as the new manager of League One side Cheltenham Town. Allen, who has previously managed Barnet, Brentford, MK Dons and Leicester City, has signed a three-year deal and replaces the recently departed Keith Downing.

Leicester cruised to a 4-0 victory over Cheltenham at Whaddon Road to continue their impressive start to the season.Lloyd Dyer scored twice for Nigel Pearson's side, while Matt Oakley and Matty Fryatt added further strikes to seal the win.

Carlisle continued their good start to League One with another victory, this time over Crewe. The 4-2 win takes them to the top of the table. Just below them Oldham also have a 100 per cent record after beating Leeds United 2-0 at Elland Road.

Di Matteo appointed MK Dons manager
Former Chelsea midfielder Roberto Di Matteo has taken his first step into management after accepting the vacant post at MK Dons. The Italian succeeds Paul Ince, who left the club to move into the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers.
