O'Sullivan considers taking a break from snooker
Ronnie O'Sullivan has threatened to take an extended break from snooker after claiming his third world after trouncing Ali Carter 18-8 at the Crucible. O'Sullivan was, by his own admission, never at his best in the final, but still proved too strong for surprise finalist Carter, winning just two frames into the final session.

Carter created history when as he fires a maximum 147
Ali Carter fired a superb 147 to become the second player in this year's World Championship to claim a maximum break. The 28-year-old recorded his first 147 in competition play to take a 8-7 lead in his quarter-final clash against Peter Ebdon at The Crucible.

Perry sets up Maguire clash
Joe Perry will face Stephen Maguire in the quarter-finals at The Crucible after fending off a late challenge by Stuart Bingham to win 13-9. Bingham, who took two of the opening three frames, one of which came thanks to a stunning break of 137, had threatened to upset the world number 18 after fighting back to trail by just one frame at 10-9.

Swail left fuming by defeat
Joe Swail was left fuming after crashing out at The Crucible in a sensational clash with China's Liang Wenbo.Swail, who rallied from 12-8 down to take the tie into a final frame, accused his opponent of being unprofessional and questioned the position of the yellow ball after it had been replaced in a tense deciding frame.
