Ferguson hails Van der Sar
Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed the contribution of goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar and says the Dutchman will be key to his side's success in Wednesday's Champions League final. Van der Sar, 37, won the competition in 1995 with Ajax and the United boss hopes his 'keeper's experience will help his side defeat Chelsea in Moscow.

Van der Sar given United boost
Manchester United have received an unexpected boost from Dutch national team boss Marco van Basten. Van Basten has left United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar out of his squad for Wednesday's friendly against Austria - and has told the 37-year-old to focus on United's bid to win both the Premier League and Champions League.

Van Marwijk agrees to become Dutch coach
Bert van Marwijk has agreed to leave Feyenoord and become boss of the Dutch National side after the 2008 European Championships in Austria and Switzerland. Marco van Basten, the incumbent coach, has already announced he will leave his post and take charge at Ajax after the tournament.

Huntelaar stars as Ajax ease past Feyenoord
Ajax beat Feyenoord 3-0 in the Amsterdam ArenA in the Dutch Classic as Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored a superb hat-trick. Ajax were close to scoring the opening goal after 15 seconds when central defender Kevin Hofland was caught napping. Eredivisie top scorer Huntelaar saw his shor brilliantly saved by Feyenoord goalkeeper Henk Timmer.

PSV pip Feyenoord to winter title
PSV just pipped Feyenoord to the unofficial title of winter champions on Sunday, Feyenoord's 1-1 draw at sc Heerenveen allowing PSV, who won 2-0 at NAC Breda, to go top on goal difference. Gerald Sibon scored a deserved equaliser for sc Heerenveen when he fired in a free kick in the closing stages.

Feyenoord rule out Ooijer transfer
Blackburn defender André Ooijer will not be joining Feyenoord during the January transfer window. "Ooijer is enjoying himself at Blackburn Rovers but he was also positive about a possible transfer to Feyenoord. However, that is not possible at the moment," Feyenoord head coach Bert van Marwijk told the website of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

PSV thrown out of the Dutch Cup
PSV have been thrown out of the Dutch Cup after fielding an ineligble player. Manuel da Silva played in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Heerenveen, despite being suspended for the match.
