The Gunners have not won a trophy since they lifted the FA Cup in 2005 following their penalty shoot-out win over Manchester United and the French defender is desperate to end his side's search for success this season.

Arsenal's Toure contracts malaria
Arsenal's summer woes have been compounded by the news that Kolo Toure has been diagnosed with malaria. It's thought that the defender contracted the disease while on holiday in his native Ivory Coast. After flying out for Arsenal's pre-season tour of Austria and Hungary, the 27-year-old was sent to hospital in Vienna where malaria was diagnosed.

Almunia happy to be No1 at Arsenal
Manuel Almunia is pleased to have been handed the No1 shirt at Arsenal, and has vowed to be a mentor for the youngsters at the club. The 31-year-old Spaniard took over in between the sticks at the Emirates last season, as German 'keeper Jens Lehmann's form waned.

Wenger: Adebayor going nowhere
Arsene Wenger insists Emmanuel Adebayor will still be at Arsenal next season and says he expects the striker to report for pre-season training on Monday. The Togo international has been linked with moves to AC Milan and Barcelona during the summer, but Wenger is adamat that the player is going nowhere.

Rosicky blow for Arsenal
Arsenal star Tomas Rosicky admits he has no chance of being fit for the start of the new Premier League season. The Czech Republic playmaker, who missed Euro 2008 through injury, was forced to undergo surgery on his knee last May. The 27-year-old is now expected to make his comeback in September, a month later than expected.

Arsenal lower Adebayor asking price - agent
Arsenal have backed down on their valuation of Emmanuel Adebayor and are now prepared to sell the Togolese striker for just over half the initial amount of £35m that was quoted to interested parties, according to an agent working for Italian club AC Milan. The 24-year-old's wage demands are said to be forcing him out of the London club.
