Leeds United are ready to make a shock move for Dagenham & Redbridge defender Sam Sloma. Sloma, who has decided against signing a new deal with the League Two club, will leave Victoria Road this summer after helping the club fight off relegation.

League One round-up: Leeds secure play-off place
Dougie Freedman's fourth minute strike proved enough to secure Leeds United's place in the League One play-offs after a 1-0 win at Yeovil Town. Freedman, currently on loan at Elland Road from Crystal Palace, netted the only goal of the game, which also saw the visitors reduced to ten men when Alan Sheehan was sent-off after 64 minutes.

Leeds United suffered a rare defeat as the fell to a 1-0 defeat at local rivals Huddersfield Town. Both teams were reduced to ten-men in a fiery first-half at the Galpharm Stadium before Andy Holdsworth headed home the winner with just 14 minutes remaining.

Staunton appointed No2 to McAllister at Leeds
Steve Staunton has been appointed as Gary McAllister's assistant manager at Leeds United. The League One club were in need of a new manager last week when the erstwhile boss Dennis Wise relinquished his position to take up his role as Executive Director at Newcastle United.

Leeds ponder Boyd bid
Dennis Wise is poised to launch a £500,000 bid to bring Leyton Orient striker Adam Boyd to Leeds. Boyd, who arrived at Brisbane Road on a free transfer last summer, has scored 11 goals in all competitions and has helped Orient to the fringes of the League One play-off places.

Leeds: No Tottenham approach for Poyet
Leeds United have dismissed speculation linking assistant manager Gus Poyet with a return to Tottenham under a new management team headed by Spaniard Juande Ramos. Martin Jol was relieved of his duties by Spurs on Thursday, and it has been rumoured that Poyet, who is working alongside Leeds boss Dennis Wise, is a target for the north London club.
