Mascherano called up to Argentina Olympic squad
Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has been called up to Argentina's Olympic squad. The 24-year-old has been named as one of three over-age players in Sergio Batista's squad and will miss up to a month of Liverpool's season from late July.

Benitez welcomes Pellegrino as Liverpool's first team coach
Former Liverpool defender Mauricio Pellegrino has been confirmed by Reds manager, Rafael Benitez, as the club's new first team coach. The Argentine made 12 appearances for the club in 2005, and moves from Valencia, where he was youth team coach.

Riise set for Anfield exit
John Arne Riise looks set to leave Liverpool after the Premier League club gave the defender permission to speak to Roma.The Norway international, who has also been linked with moves to Aston Villa and Newcastle, has fallen out of favour at Anfield and could now make the switch to Rome this summer.
