Ryan Sidebottom admitted he was determined to improve on his wicketless display on day one after taking four for 55 to bowl out New Zealand on day two of the first Test. The Nottinghamshire left-armer mopped up the Kiwi tail with a superb display of swing bowling as the Black Caps were all out for 277.

Sidebottom torments New Zealand at Lord's
Ryan Sidebottom tormented New Zealand once again as England wrestled for control of the opening npower Test. The shaggy haired left-armer picked up 24 wickets to power the Three Lions to a 2-1 series victory back in March. He was back to his old tricks on day two of the first Test of this series as he mopped up the Black Caps tail at Lord's.

Hoggard left out of England side
Matthew Hoggard has been left out of England's side for the First Test with New Zealand at Lord's, which begins on Thursday. The seamer, who has 248 Test wickets but was dropped during the tour against the same side during the winter, will instead take on 12th man duties.

Moores: "Injured Flintoff would have been in Test squad"
Andrew Flintoff would almost certainly have played in Thursday's opening Test against New Zealand if he had stayed fit. The Lancashire all rounder has fought his way back from a fourth ankle operation last October only to suffer a side strain playing for his county last week.

Strauss hoping to re-live Test debut
A rejuvenated Andrew Strauss will use the memory of his England debut to inspire him in the opening Test of the summer against New Zealand. The Middlesex bastman was called in to the side to face the Black Caps at short notice in 2004 following a knee injury to Michael Vaughan.

I will score hundreds of Test runs - Ambrose
England wicket-keeper Tim Ambrose has set himself a target of scoring at least a century in every Test series he plays in, as he attempts to cement his place in the Test side. Since run-scoring stopper Alec Stewart retired from international duty in 2003, England have struggled to replace him.

Collingwood 100 per cent fit for first Test against New Zealand
Paul Collingwood has declared himself fit to feature for England ahead of their first Test against New Zealand, which begins at Lord's on Thurday. The Durham all-rounder suffered an injury in his right shoulder last Friday, during a County Championship match against Lancashire.

Vettori confident his finger will be OK for first Test
New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori will enter the first Test against England having had only 11 overs of English conditions under his belt. The 29-year-old finger against Essex during his first tour game since arriving from India. The slow bowler needed two stitches on his spinning finger after catching a return through.

ECB annouce Ashes 2009 itinerary
The English and Wales Cricket Board have announced Australia's itinerary for their Ashes tour next year. The tour, from late May to late September, will include seven one-day internationals as well as five Test matches. In the middle of the Ashes tour will be International Cricket Council's Twenty20 World Cup, which will be held in England in June.

Harmison could quit cricket if not recalled to England team
England quick bowler Steve Harmison has hinted that he may quit cricket if he cannot regain his Test place. The Durham player, who made his international debut in August 2002, has been dropped by England coach Peter Moores after a number of sub-standard outings.
