South African fly-half Butch James has renewed his contract with Bath for a further three years. Although he has been in indifferent form for the west-country side this season his talent is proven and he is determined to bring silverware to the club.

Danny Cipriani kicked 11 points on his comeback from injury but his London Wasps side still went down 27-23 to new Guinness Premiership leaders Bath at Adams Park. Fly-half Cipriani was making his comeback just four months after suffering a fractured ankle dislocation against the same opponents on the same ground and played 51 minutes.

Gloucester have snapped up Apo Satala, the Army and former Leeds Tykes' number eight. Having been on trial at the club since pre-season, Satala has won a contract until the end of the campaign. He will sit on the bench against Newcastle in the Guinness Premiership on Tuesday.
