Arsenal complete Nasri deal
Arsenal have finally completed the signing of Samir Nasri from Marseille. The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to North London all summer after a fee, believed to be worth around £13m, was agreed between the clubs, but Euro 2008 held up an official announcement.

Marseille: Nasri deal close
Arsenal's move for Marseille midfielder Samir Nasri is close to completion, according to the French club's chairman Pape Diouf. Arsene Wenger has been after Nasri all summer and there were premature reports from the player that he had sealed a deal worth around £12m.

Arsenal's pursuit of Marseille midfielder Samir Nasri is likely to come to an imminent conclusion, although the player's claims he had already signed for the club have been dismissed by his agent. Nasri, the 21-year-old Frenchman, said yesterday a four-year deal had been completed worth around £12m.

Benzema ruled out for France
Lyon striker Karim Benzema has been ruled out of France's friendly clash with England in Paris on Wednesday. Benzema, who has been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United, was forced to limp off after 35 minutes of his side's 4-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been slammed by Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas for allegedly destabilising star striker Karim Benzema. Ferguson is a confirmed admirer of the 20-year-old forward, who scored the opener for Lyon in the side's 1-1 Champions League draw last week.

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has enquired about Hatem Ben Arfa and Karim Benzema - but insists that he would not exchange Ben Arfa for Cristiano Roanldo. Dakar Rally is cancelled
The famous Dakar Rally has been cancelled after a French family were killed in Mauritania in an apparent terrorist attack. Eight stages of the race, scheduled to start from Lisbon on Saturday, were due to take part in the Islamic country in north-west Africa.

Pouliquen appointed Metz boss
Yvon Pouliquen has been appointed as the new Metz coach after the Ligue 1 club sacked Francis De Taddeo on Sunday. De Taddeo was asked to leave after the club was left stranded at the bottom of the league with only seven points from 19 games so far this term after a poor run of results.
