Moutinho - I was right to turn down Everton but want Premier chance
Portuguese sensation Joao Moutinho has refused to rule out a move to the Premier League in the future - but believes he was right to turn down Everton on transfer deadline day. Moutinho, who was the subject of an £11.8m bid from David Moyes, rejected the chance to move to Goodison Park in order to stay at Sporting Lisbon.

Sporting Lisbon have slapped a £23.5m fee on Arsenal target Miguel Veloso. The Gunners have been tracking the 22-year-old defensive midfielder as a possible replacement for Mathieu Flamini, but Sporting are keen to create a bidding war with 17 clubs across Europe having made an enquiry.

Porto accused of match fixing
Portuguese champions FC Porto have been accused of fixing two domestic matches in the 2003-04 season. Porto, who won the Champions League under the guidance of Jose Mourinho in the same season, have beenaccused of fixing the games against Estrela da Amadora and Beira Mar.

Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz is desperate to play down growing speculation linking him with the top job at Benfica. Sir Alex Ferguson's number two has been repeatedly linked with the former European Champions since Jose Camacho left the club two weeks ago.

Queiroz hits back at Sporting
Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has attacked Sporting Lisbon president Filipe Soares Franco after he was accused of attempting to unsettle Sporting centre-back Miguel Veloso. United have enjoyed a good relationship with the Portuguese club over recent years, signing both Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani from them.
