Warren and Dyson out to make an impression
Marc Warren and Simon Dyson are determined to justify their place in the Seve Trophy this week. The two were picked by Great Britain and Ireland captain Nick Faldo as his wildcard entries for the competition against Seve Ballesteros' European team. The tournament starts on Thursday at The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort in Killenard, Ireland.
Scot Warren said: "Making the Seve Trophy team was one of my goals for the year, so I'm delighted to be in it.
"Getting the wildcard pick wasn't exactly the way I wanted to make it, but I've obviously been doing something right this season for Nick to pick me.
"To be that position when I've not been performing at my best, for three-four months this season, is very encouraging.
"I'm really looking forward to it. It's going to be exciting, and a chance to get to know Nick better.
"It'll be interesting to see how he does as captain, but he was a great player and great champion, and with all his experience, I don't think he'll leave any stone unturned."
Meanwhile, Englishman Dyson said he was in disbelief when he was notified about his inclusion in the team.
He added: "I couldn't believe it when Nick asked me to be a member of the team. It's nice to know someone like Nick thinks you are good enough.
"I was delighted to accept and I'm really looking forward to representing GB&I in what should be a fantastic experience for me."
Ballesteros has opted for Denmark's Thomas Björn and Spaniard Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño as his two wildcards.
And Björn, who has played in every Seve Trophy contest since it was created seven years ago, is looking to make his experience count.
He said: "I'm very happy to have been asked by Seve to join the Continental Europe team in this week's Seve Trophy contest and look forward to a great week of golf in Ireland again."
While, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño added: "I was thrilled to be chosen by Seve for the Continental Europe team.
"The Seve Trophy is a brilliant chance to gain valuable experience of team match play."
