Cup scare for Ajax
Ajax narrowly avoided one of the most embarrassing results in their history, but still needed extra-time to beat amateur outfit Kozakken Boys in the Dutch Cup. The Amsterdam giants finally came through 2-1 after a huge scare.
Ajax opened the scoring with a Johnny Heitinga penalty midway through the first half, but Kozakken Boys drew level two minutes from the final whistle following a Willem Looijen goal.
Ajax continued to struggle until Dennis Rommedahl netted in extra time, finally putting his side into the third round.
Elsewhere in the Dutch Cup, Feyenoord were much more impressive in their 3-0 win over Utrecht.
Nick Hofs opened the scoring and Luigi Bruins and Roy Makaay added further goals.
