Love to undergo surgery
Davis Love III will undergo surgery to repair a severed nerve in his ankle. The 43-year-old suffered the injury while playing a round of golf. The American, who is currently ranked 51st in the world will miss the Valero Texas Open this week.
A statement on Love's website read: "An MRI proved that all the ligaments on the outside of the ankle are torn," said Dr. Melvin Deese, who diagnosed Love.
"Obviously, those ligaments are very significant for a golfer because they stabilize the foot during the swing."
"Davis is eager to start the therapy after his operation and fulfill the commitments he has remaining this season," said Love's manager Mac Barnhardt.
