Webster leads at Carnoustie
Steve Webster leads the Dunhill Links Championship by one shot after carding a first-round 65. The Briton, who has only just returned from a back injury, sits a shot clear of the field on seven-under par after taming the course at Carnoustie.
Webster finished just one stroke off the course record, while Open winner Padraig Harrington finished on two-under for the day.
Scotland's Paul Lawrie leads the chasing pack on six-under along with Soren Hansen, Otto Hennie and Scott Strange.
Elsewhere, South Africa's Ernie Els sits two shots off the lead alongside England's Luke Donald and Finland's Mika Ilonen.
But home favourite Colin Montgomerie endured a frustrating day as he finished on two-over par.
But there was better news for Justin Rose after the Englishman finished three shots off the lead.
