Terry determined to bounce back
John Terry has vowed to return to action as quickly as possible for Chelsea and England if, as expected, he needs an operation on his knee. Terry has been ruled out of England's crucial clash with Russia in Moscow on Wednesday after a reccurrence of an injury picked up in training for his country last week.
And he has admitted he will have to go under the knife when he returns to Stamford Bridge.
Terry said: "I will have to have an op in in the near future but it's a case of when and finding the right time, just to remove a bit of floating bone under the patella that is catching on the knee.
"Luckily it's just a case of going in, removing it and I'll be back in two or three days. I'll be back playing within a week I'm told."
The more encouraging news for Chelsea fans is that Terry's other injuries appear to be healing well.
He said: "My toe is fine now,it's healed up. If I had played it would have been the first match without an injection. So that injection has gone and I don't need my mask on my face any more , either. So apart from the knee things are good."
Terry realises he has being playing roulette with his future health by playing on with a broken toe, fractured cheekbone and injured knee. But he is adamant he won't change his ways in future.
He said: "I've got a very short career as a footballer and if that means playing with a little bit of pain I'll do that. I don't want to look back when I'm 35 or 40 and I think 'I wish I had played that game or I wish I had tried a bit harder'."
