Burger: Don't waste our chance of glory
South Africa forward Schalk Burger says it will be 'a waste' if the Springboks do not win the World Cup Final on Saturday. South Africa take on England in Paris having won all six games in the tournament so far. However, Burger knows all that will mean nothing if they suffer defeat against England - a team they beat 36-0 in the group stages.
And the flanker has vowed to win the William Webb Ellis trophy for coach Jake White.
"A lot of us have come through age-group rugby where he coached us - Under 21 level," Burger explained when asked about White.
"In the past four years he has become really close to us.
"We know that on Saturday, it's a bit of a waste if we lose. We've done a lot of hard work and hopefully we'll play some good rugby on Saturday."
Although South Africa are favourites to win the Final, Burger insists the emphatic victory over England earlier in the tournament means nothing.
"It's a final. We are starting over. That game has been forgotten. We have now got a job to do on Saturday," he explained.
"It's a brand new week and it's a brand new game That game was in the pool matches a couple of weeks ago and look they came through the rest of the tournament pretty well.
"We are starting at zero-all on Saturday and that previous win against them is long forgotten".
