Lievremont named new France coach

France have named Marc Lievremont as their new coach. Lievremont, a former flanker for the national side between 1995-1999, succeeds Bernard Laporte, who joined the French government as Junior Minister for Sport after leading his country to a second successive World Cup semi-final defeat to England.

Lievremont will be assisted by former French star Emile Ntamack, who will coach the backs, and forwards coach Didier Retiere.

Ntamack, who played at centre, wing and full-back for his country, won 46 caps for France, scoring 135 points up until his international rtetirement in 2000.

Retiere and Ntamack were joint coaches of the French Under-21 side last season, and they join the coaching team set up by Lievremont, who has guided Dax to the French First Division.
