Gilbert: Murray will struggle to qualify for Masters

Andy Murray's coach Brad Gilbert admits his man faces a tough task to qualify for the end-of-season Masters Cup in Shanghai. Murray is currently 11th in the ATP Race, but needs to be in the top eight by the end of the Paris Masters this week. Murray has a bye in the first round and is set to face Jarkko Nieminen or Juan Monaco in the second.

But is then scheduled to face world number three Novak Djokovic.

And Gilbert knows that makes it hard for the British number one to progress far enough in the Paris Masters to book his trip to China.

"Andy's still got a sniff at qualifying for the Masters Cup," Gilbert said.

"But my guy has a tough draw this week in Paris. If he gets past the winner of Nieminen/Monaco he's most likely got Djockovic in the next round."
