Australia choose Tait over Clarke

Shaun Tait has been preferred to Stuart Clark in the Australia squad for the Chappell-Hadlee one-day series against Antipodean rivals New Zealand. Tait recently underwent surgery on his right elbow and replaces Clark, who has taken only 39 wickets in his 28 ODI's in his international career to date.

Tait was one of the stars of Australia's World Cup win last summer, taking 23 wickets. And the 24-year-old has insisted that he will go flat out from his first delivery.

"That's one thing I'll refuse to do, is to bowl within myself," Tait told AAP. "If I'm going to bowl within myself I won't play ... I want to go in and bowl as fast as I can."

The only other change from the squad that toured Australia sees Michael Hussey, who averages 58.90 in his 72 ODI's recalled after injury, with Brad Hodge dropping out, while there is no room for seamer Ben Hilfenhaus.

Australia squad: Adam Gilchrist (wk), Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting (capt), Michael Clarke, Andrew Symonds, Michael Hussey, Brad Haddin, James Hopes, Brad Hogg, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Shaun Tait, Nathan Bracken.
