Queiroz hits back at Sporting

Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has attacked Sporting Lisbon president Filipe Soares Franco after he was accused of attempting to unsettle Sporting centre-back Miguel Veloso. United have enjoyed a good relationship with the Portuguese club over recent years, signing both Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani from them.

But their reported pursuit of Veloso has infuriated Franco, who called Queiroz's behaviour 'unacceptable' in the chase for the £20m-rated star.

But Queiroz has hit back on Portuguese TV saying: "I have been accused of harassment and low ethical standards.

"I am very disturbed as this is unjust. This is serious and, therefore, it must be dealt with and solved between the clubs. It must be proven and clarified.

"It is the first time that a president of a club visits Manchester United and publicly accuses us of trying to convince a player to move.

"I'm upset with the situation. I led the transfer of Nani and I do not see any reason why I should change my system of working."
