Woods: I'm not taking a European Tour Card
Tiger Woods has revealed he will not be taking a European Tour card ahead of the launch of the £5m Dubai World Championships. The world number one would only be able to compete in the recently announced event, which begins in 2009, if he became a member of the European Tour, which would require him to commit to competing in eleven counting events.
Unfortunately for those hoping to see Woods play against Europe's best in Dubai he has revealed that he has no intention of increasing his current workload.
"I've contemplated taking a European Tour card since 1999 when I started going over to Europe and playing there. I've always been one or two short of keeping my status over there, and there's really no way I can keep up the commitment level.
"Playing that much golf on both sides of the continent - it tends to wear you out a little bit."
