Mirza looking for good start in Hopman Cup
Sania Mirza is determined to get India off to the perfect start against USA in the opening game of the Hopman Cup - when she takes on her normal doubles partner. Mirza will face Meghann Shaughnessy in the women's singles rubber before teaming up with her for the Australian Open next month.
But Mirza is planning on inflicting defeat on Shaughnessy, deputising on the American team for Serena Williams who is ruled out with an illness.
Mirza said: "Last year we played the Czech Republic in the first match and got off to a winning start.
"That really set the momentum and I'm going to try my best to give us a head start and hopefully Rohan Bopanna will follow.
"I'm playing Meghann, though, and incidentally we're playing doubles together in the Australian Open, so that will be interesting."
