Haye and Maccarinelli name date for all-British cruiserweightclash
David Haye and Enzo Maccarinelli have agreed to put their world cruiserweight titles on the line next March in one of the biggest all-British bouts for years. Maccarinelli is the current WBO champion, while Haye holds the WBC and WBA belts.
Haye, who has stopped 19 of his 21 opponents inside the distance, said: "This will be the modern day Benn-Eubank. I feel that it is my duty as world champion to fight the very best and I guarantee that I will knock-out Maccarinelli to convince the few doubters that I am the best cruiserweight that Britain has ever produced."
However, Maccarinelli is convinced that he has the punching power to claim the victory.
He said: "There is nothing like a big fight between the top two British fighters in the division to get the public excited. We are both big punchers but I believe that I am the hardest hitter out of the two of us. Once I drop Haye he won't be getting up."
The fight will take place on Saturday March 8 at a venue yet to be decided.
