Wright signs on for three more years at Sussex

England one-day international Luke Wright has committed his short-term future to Sussex County Cricket Club. The all-rounder, who toured with England recently in Sri Lanka and is due to fly out for the forthcoming tour to New Zealand, has signed a two-and-a-half-year extension, meaning he will remain at the club until 2010.

After top-scoring in the 2007 Twenty20 domestic season, with a colossal 346 runs, the 22-year-old was selected in England's Twenty20 World Cup squad, and earned a call up to the one-day squad last summer.

On his ODI debut against India at The Oval last September he knocked a half century in only 39 balls, in a 106 run 6th wicket stand with Middlesex batsmen Owais Shah.

Commenting on his new deal, a beaming Wright said: "I'm delighted to have extended my contract and I'm very excited about having the opportunity to carry on here at Sussex.

"I feel I've got a lot to give and I can't wait to start our defence of the LV County Championship title.Next season is going to be an important time for the Club and it's a privilege to know I'm going to be part of that."

Professional Cricket Manager Mark Robinson added: "Everybody at the Club is delighted that Luke will be with us for the next three years. He is such an exciting cricketer with a bright future whose best years lie in front of him."
