Kaymer wins in Abu Dhabi
German Martin Kaymer kept his cool to win the Abu Dhabi Championship by four shots from Lee Westwood and Henrik Stenson. The 23-year-old had begun the day with a six-shot lead but could only card a two-over-par 74 as he began to wobble in pursuit of his maiden European Tour title.
Westwood had a magnificent chance to pile the pressure on the Rookie of the Year but he missed a putt that would have seen him within one shot of Kaymer with six holes to play, but his effort - and his title hopes - rolled agonisingly wide.
And the young German walked down the 18th fairway with a comfortable three-shot lead and he made no mistake as he pocketed the $333,000 first prize.
Westwood bogeyed the final hole to give Kaymer an even more comfortable margin of victory, and the German will look to take his fine form into the remainder of the European Tour schedule.
