Scotsman Tynes kicks Giants to Super Bowl

Scotsman Lawrence Tynes kicked New York Giants into the Super Bowl, although he needed three attempts to finally kill off the Green Bay Packers. Tynes missed a field-goal with the last play of normal time, but then slotted over in overtime to clinch a 23-20 win.

Tynes had fired wide from 43 yards with six minutes remaining with the scores tied at 20-20, but had the chance to redeem himself with five seconds remaining - only to miss again from 36 yards.

But Green Bay failed to take advantage of the double let off and the Greenock-born Giant finally converted from 47 yards.

Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw had earlier scored touchdowns for New York who will now attempt to prevent New England Patriots making it a perfect season in the Super Bowl.
