Groningen sign Argentine defensive starlet
FC Groningen have captured highly-rated Argentine U-20 international defender MatÃas Cahais on a one-and-a-half year loan deal from Boca Juniors.
Left-footed Cahais was the captain of the Argentine U-20 team last year when they won the World U-20 Championship in Canada, though he missed the final of the competition because of suspension.
Groningen can sign Cahais permanently during his loan period if they pay a transfer fee. If that happens, he will sign a four year contract.
Cahais made his debut for Boca Juniors as a 17-year-old and played 12 league matches in total for the club.
