Benin coach reveals bribe attempt
Benin coach Reinhard Fabisch has revealed that he was asked to help fix the outcome of his side's opening game of the African Cup of Nations against Mali.Fabisch told reporters how he was approached two days before the game in Sekondi, a game that Benin eventually lost 1-0 to a second-half penalty kick.
Benin face the Ivory Coast in their next game in Sekondi on Friday and Fabisch has warned his players to report any illicit activiy to the authorities.
"He wanted to find out from me if there was any possibility of manipulating the match," said Fabisch.
"I told him: 'Look, you have two minutes to leave the hotel or I will call the police'.
"I cut him short and told him to leave. It doesn't help football.
"I assume that if someone approaches you like that, then they have that (money) in mind."
