Djokovic 'amazed' at straight sets victory
Novak Djokovic admitted he was amazed to beat world number one Roger Federer in straight sets to reach the Australian Open Final. The 20-year-old Serb, seeded three, was in stunning form as he completely dominated to win 7-5 6-3 7-6 (7-5), and he will now meet unseeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in Sunday's Final.
And after taking advantage of a surprisingly below-par display from 12-time Grand Slam champion Federer the Serb revealed he was optimistic heading into his second Grand Slam Final.
"It was amazing to win in straight sets, I never expected to play well and win all the time," Djokovic told Eurosport.
"The crowd expected me to have a few ups and downs as he has so much experience and I'm so happy with my performance."
He continued: "Every time you play him (Federer) you learn something new, so I tried to be positive, tried not to be nervous, and I'm pleased with how I dealt with the pressure.
"What do I think of the Final? It's going to be interesting. It's great to see new players coming up, nobody expected this Final but I think we deserve it over the two weeks.
"I'm going into it very optimistic I can win it."
