Lloyd: Murray still committed to Team GB
Great Britain's Davis Cup captain John Lloyd insists that Andy Murray is still committed to his country despite pulling out of next week's tie in Argentina. The British number one and World number 12 has a knee injury and told his personal website that the switch to clay courts from outdoor hard to indoor hard could cause more damage.
That is despite Murray having an extra two weeks of rest due to his first round exit at the Australian Open.
But Lloyd, who is expected to rely on Alex Bogdanovic, Jamie Baker, Jamie Murray and Ross Hutchins, insists he has not questioned Murray's dedication.
"He's played in all the matches that I've been involved in so far, so as far as I'm concerned he is [committed]," said Lloyd.
"He says he's very disappointed and obviously I take him at his word on that. I don't think he would pull out unless there was an injury, why would he?"
Lloyd, in an interview with BBC Radio Five Live, continued: "This is a great occasion for him. I think he's very disappointed, he says he is, and we're waiting to hear from him.
"The team is very disappointed but what can you do? It's one of those things."
