Cameroon to meet Ghana in ANC semis
Cameroon scored a goal in extra time to send them through to the African Nations Cup semi-finals at the expense of Tunisia. The 3-2 win means the Indomitable Lions will face the host nation, Ghana, in the last four. Earlier on Monday defending champions Egypt defeated a spirited Angola team 2-1.
Hosny Abd Rabou's penalty and a goal from Amr Zaki ensured victory for the holders. On Thursday they will play Ivory Coast in Kumasi. The match will be a repeat of the 2006 final in Cairo, which the Egyptians won on penalties. But Angola were unlucky not to force extra time.
Manchester United's Angolan signing impressed again, scoring with a 25-yard thunderbolt to level the scores.
However a defensive mistake allowed Zaki to score when he converged on a cross with his chest seven minutes before the interval. Egypt have not lost in the ANC since 2004, and proved too powerful for Luis Goncalves' charges.
Stephane Mbia's brace helped four-time champions Cameroon through to the semis. Mbia nodded in Jean Epalle's flick on in the 92nd minute, after his header in the first half gave Cameroon the lead.
Geremi's free-kick had extended Cameroon's lead before Chaouki Ben Saada hit back with a free-kick of his own. Tunisia's Yassine Chikhaoui scored from close range with only nine minutes remaining to force extra-time. But Cameroon shut up shop after Mbia's second goal and Tunisia were ejected.
