King: I was spurred on by memory of Cup Final defeat

Tottenham captain Ledley King admitted that he was spurred on by the memory of a cup final defeat again after seeing his side come from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 in the Carling Cup Final at Wembley. King was part of the Tottenham side that lost the Worthington Cup Final to Blackburn in 2002.

And after goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Jonathan Woodgate saw Tottenham win their first silverware since 1999 King admitted he was determined not to taste defeat again, despite Didier Drogba's first-half opener.

"This feels amazing," King told Sky Sports. "It's been a long time - too long. The only other final I've been in we lost. Me and the rest of the lads were determined not to let that happen again.

"You saw the commitment and effort we put in after being 1-0 down to a team like Chelsea.

"Is this the start of something special? I hope so. You can see we're a good team and it's up to us to try to just get it right.

"To be 1-0 down to a team like Chelsea it's going to be tough. We felt on top in the first half, their goal came from a free kick and we felt they hadn't created much so we wanted to do the same thing second half, and we did."
