Grant slams Halsey after Final defeat

Chelsea manager Avram Grant has slammed referee Mark Halsey after his side threw away a one goal lead to lose 2-1 to Tottenham in the Carling Cup Final at Chelsea. Halsey gave a penalty that Dimitar Berbatov converted with 20 minutes left before Jonathan Woodgate won the tie in extra-time.

And Grant believes the penalty, given for handball against Wayne Bridge, was unfair and changed the game.

"It was not a penalty as players cannot keep hands behind back," Grant told Sky Sports.

"The ball was stuck and only the linesman decided it was a penalty. It turned the game as it was 70 minutes and Tottenham hadn't created any chances so it did turn the game."

And Grant was upset that Halsey blew the final whistle with Salomon Kalou speeding towards the Tottenham goal.

He said: "I have never seen a referee blow his whistle while we attack in that part of the pitch, and we are all very disappointed.

"Now there is just the next game and we have to concentrate on the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League."
