Chambers ready for World Indoor Championships
The World Indoor Athletics Championships 60m heats begin on Friday, and Great Britain's representative Dwain Chambers, is ready to prove his worth in Valencia. Having won the British trials in early February Chambers, who had been banned after using stimulants, has not raced since in the face of public outcry.
He had been axed for two years after testing positive for the steroid THG, and as a consequience has been frozen out by European meeting promoters and denied a warm-up event.
But Chambers insists he is ready for action. He said: "I've rested and got myself in the right frame of mind.
"I want to get myself in gear in the first round, see what I'm up against. Then I want to get my country a medal."
He is pleased to have been treated normally by UKA performance director Dave Collins and his coaching staff.
He continued: "They've always been supportive since I was picked and I'm here as a member of the team."
