Chambers hints at retirement
Dwain Chambers has hinted that he may retire after clinching a silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia. Chambers, who ran the 60 metres in a personal best 6.54 seconds, tied for silver with former World 100 metre champion Kim Collins with Nigerian Olusoji Fasuba taking gold.
After being banned for two years for drug offences in 2003,Chambers saw his chances of competing in this summer's Olympics all but killed off by the British Olympic Association.
The BOA is the only organisation that insists on life-bans for former drug users and Chambers may exercise the option of challenging their stance in the courts.
However, following his exertions in Valencia, the sprinter acknowledges that his career may be prematurely curtailed.
"I want to check my situation, check if it's worth appealing and if there's a chance of me winning then it's something we will consider," said Chambers.
"If there's not a chance to go forward, I'll go and pursue a career elsewhere.
"But for now I just want to celebrate with my team-mates and go and have some fun. I can't please everybody, but I got a medal for my country and I'm happy."
UK Athletics reluctantly selected Chambers to take the trip to Valencia after he achieved the statutory qualifying time at the World Indoor trials in Sheffield last month
