Van der Sar given United boost
Manchester United have received an unexpected boost from Dutch national team boss Marco van Basten. Van Basten has left United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar out of his squad for Wednesday's friendly against Austria - and has told the 37-year-old to focus on United's bid to win both the Premier League and Champions League.
Van der Sar, his country's most capped player with 122, has sat out United's last two matches with a groin strain and has been told to rest and recover by his international manager.
"I spoke to Van der Sar earlier this week," said Van Basten. "He is recovering from a minor injury and he might play on Sunday.
"I have told him to focus on United for the moment. We want him to be fresh and rested for the European Championship."
