Taylor: Lewis won't get an easy ride
Phil Taylor has warned young pretender Adrian Lewis not to expect an easy ride when the two go head to head in Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts in Birmingham on Thursday as he is back to his best. The 13-time World Darts Champion had a poor start to the Premier League, losing three of his first four matches.
But four straight wins have seen The Power climb back to the top of the table.
And the 47-year-old from Stoke says he has no plans to give up his crown as Premier League champion without a fight.
"I'm playing alright now," he said. "I had a few problems to start with but I have put those right.
"I have made a few changes to my game and the way I practice and I have just been working very hard.
"When I lost three games early on people said I had lost it, but they are not saying that anymore and I am confident I can win the Premier League again.
"It will be a cracking night, there are 6,000 expected in Birmingham, so I am looking forward to it."
Taylor beat Lewis in the earlier stages of the tournament, and believes he can do the double over his former protégé.
But his preparations for the match were dealt a bit of a blow when he was beaten by Reading footballer John 'The Hammer' Oster in a three leg charity exhibition match at The Madejski Stadium on Tuesday.
Taylor said: "I am not sure how the match with Adrian will go, it depends on which Adrian turns up. But whichever one it is, I won't be making it easy for him.
"Adrian is on his own now and I don't give him advice anymore but he seems to be doing ok without me!
"It was just a bit of fun to play with the footballers and some of them were quite good and it was all for a good cause."
