Garrad signs Jaguars deal

Quarterback David Garrad has pledged his future to the Jacksonville Jaguars after signing a seven-year deal worth $60million. The deal makes Garrad the highest paid player in the history of the franchise and is a major improvement on his original four year deal which saw him paid $2million a year.

"I pretty much had to say, `Let's go ahead and wrap it up. I'm done,'" Garrard said. "It's too much stress on me and my family. We just kept working on it and I finally just said, `You know what, I'd rather be happy now, have the city happy now, have the team, the organization, the owner happy now than trying to string something out having everybody on edge.'"

Garrard, 30, completed 64 per cent of his passes for 2,509 yards and 18 touchdowns despite missing three games because of an ankle injury last year. He finished with the NFL's third-highest passer rating (102.2).
