Yousuf stars as Pakistan romp to ODI victory over Bangladesh

Pakistan hammered Bangladesh in the first One Day International of the series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday. A 145-run fourth-wicket partnership between Mohammad Yousuf and Shoaib Malik propelled the home side to an imposing 322 for 7 and set up the victory on a flat batting strip.

After winning the toss Pakistan elected to bat first but they made a shaky start to their innings. At 70-3 off 18 overs a big total looked unlikely, that was until Yousuf and Malik came in.

Yousuf top scored with 108 off 103 balls while Malik hit 85 from 75 deliveries. Misbah-ul-Haq and Shahid Afrid also contributed well at the end of the innings scoring 38 and 27 respectively.

And the home side wasted little time ripping into the Bangladesh top order. After limping to 53-3 off 13 overs the Tigers were almost saved as the floodlights at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore failed.

But their salvation was short lived as after a brief break the lights flickered back on and play resumed. They were set a revised target of 299 from just 43 overs, but no sooner than Iftikhar Anjum completed the first over the lights went off once again.

Eventually the game was ended when Shahid Afridi and Malik shared the last four wickets to mop up the tail.
