Weir wins wheelchair event

Britain's David Weir continued his astonishing success at the London Marathon after claiming a third consecutive victory in the wheelchair event.Weir overcame the challenge of Australia's Kurt Fearnley and France's Deni Lemeunier to win the race in a time of one hour 33 minutes and 56 seconds.

Weir, who has been out of action for several months after contracting glandular fever, says this victory is his best yet.

"It was probably the best win I've had at London," Weir told BBC radio 5 Live.

"I've not had the best build-up so it's a fantastic win for me.

"The top 10 marathon racers in the world are all here and I'm probably ranked 10th so I'm delighted."

In the women's race, Switzerland's Sandra Graf set a new course record on her way to victory.

Graf finished nearly four minutes clear of second place Amanda McGregory after recording a time of 1:48.05 in wet conditions.
