Lewis believes fighting in America will be 'an issue' for Calzaghe

Former heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis has warned fellow Brit Joe Calzaghe he faces a major challenge when crosses the Atlantic to fight Bernard Hopkins. The Welshman has never fought in America before and Lewis, who won titles in America, believes fighting in Las Vegas will be 'an issue' for him.

"It is an advantage for Hopkins and an issue for Calzaghe because he has never travelled [to America] for a fight," said Lewis.

"Now he actually has to travel, get readjusted, stay for quite a while in a brand new environment. That has to have some kind of effect on you.

"All of a sudden the whole world is focused on you. You are not at home any more, your fans are travelling. Some boxers can adjust and some boxers can't, we are going to have to see whether he can make the adjustment or not."

Well, I do wish Joe all the best in his bout! Lennox Lewis had a definite point when he said that fighting in a different environment will have some effect on you, until you can get used to the change of atmosphere and scenery. Many boxing fans are looking forward to seeing how he does, including myself.
