Sanchez returns for the Mets after two years out

New York Mets' relief pitcher Duaner Sanchez has made his return to the mound after two years out with a shoulder injury. The 28-year-old pitched a scoreless ninth inning as he played his first game since July 2006 during the 6-0 win over the Washington Nationals.

Sanchez separated his shoulder during a taxi accident and has taken longer than expected to recover after suffering a setback last spring.

But speaking after the win over the Nationals, which was sealed by four hits from the returning Jose Reyes, Sanchez admitted he was relieved to have completed his comeback game.

"Now it's out of the way," Sanchez said. "Now we just go back to everything else."
