Arteta fears he will miss out on Euro 2008
Mikel Arteta fears he will be overlooked by Spain coach Luis Aragones for the European Championships this summer. The Everton midfielder has been in superb form this season to help the club challenge arch-rivals Liverpool for a Champions League place.
But Arteta is not confident that his displays will earn him a place in the national squad for the tournament in Switzerland and Austria.
"If Luis Aragones does not call me, then he will have his reasons," he said. "If that is the case, then I will just have to watch Spain's games at home on TV.
"There is a lot of competition for places in my position and that does make it more difficult for me. But I don't feel forgotten, even though I am here in the English league."
