Ramos unsure of King's future

Ledley King has faced nothing but injury problems over the last few years and is now contemplating an anxious wait to see if he has a future at Tottenham after Juande Ramos revealed he is still unsure who his club captain will be next season.

King has endured a nightmare spell with a troublesome knee injury and has only started four Premier League games this season.

The England defender played through the pain barrier to lead his side to Carling Cup victory against Chelsea in February, but he has taken a decision to miss the final five games of the season in a bid to make a full recovery over the summer.

King is hoping for a new lease of life but will have to wait and see who the new captain is as Ramos is still unsure over which players are going to be at White Hart Lane next season.

Ramos said: "We will have to wait and see if he is here next season. We don't know what the squad is going to be like and we will make that decision at that time. We will have to see what state he is in and see the diagnosis from the doctors.

"I know perfectly well what the situation is with Ledley's injury and only the doctors could provide that information."

Ramos admits Tottenham will also have the final decision over the future of Dimitar Berbatov and refuses to be unsettled by claims he wants to quit the club.

Berbatov's agent Emile Dantchev has come out again and stated that the Bulgarian striker is ready for a transfer to a club playing in the Champions League and is keen to win major silverware.

Tottenham supporters are desperate for their prolific forward to stay at White Hart Lane, but must have strong fears over his long-term future with the club.

Ramos is not upset by the latest comments surrounding his star forward and believes he will continue to give everything for the north London side.

Ramos added: "I think people are free to say what they want to say and express themselves. I don't think he has committed a crime. We cannot control agents.

"Right now we have that player with us and we intend to enjoy having him here. We are really happy with him and his contribution to the team.

"We are delighted to have him and as far as his future is concerned, then that is down to the club."

I think its great King is taking off the final five games to try and recover better. Five games now could help give him five years of play. I hope he doesn't get penalized by taking the time off and is still on the team next season.
