Great Leighs ready to open for business
Great Leighs racecourse in Essex has been given permission to host its first meeting on Sunday. The track, Britain's first new course in 81 years, was scheduled to open 18 months ago, but will now finally open its doors.
An inspection by the British Horseracing Authority on Friday morning deemed the course suitable for racing, although Sunday's meeting is not open to the general public with attendance by invitation only.

Its about time this opened. People were probably about ready to write it off as never really getting on its feet by now. I'm looking forward to watching some lovely races there.
