Bolton prepare for business while Tottenham go shopping

Bolton manager Gary Megson believes his side have got the equivalent of an FA Cup Final against Sunderland next weekend and insists they have to record a victory if they are to retain their Premiership status. Tottenham manager Juande Ramos, meanwhile, is more concerned with his performance in the transfer market.

Megson was pleased to see his side come away with a 1-1 draw from Tottenham, but knows it could have been all three points after Stelios had fired them into the lead.

With Fulham gaining a vital win over Manchester City and both Reading and Birmingham picking up a point, Bolton will realistically have to get something at the Reebok Stadium before they face title contenders Chelsea in their final game.

Megson is praying that the home support will work in their favour and they can maintain their recent form which has featured two wins and a in their last three games.

Megson said: "We have managed four points from the last two away games and it's a position where the Sunderland game is a cup final.

"We will have 25,000 people there; hopefully helping us get a result we need and then let's see other results. It's so complicated. It doesn't matter if they are safe or not, we have to perform like I know we can.

"We were pleased to score the first goal against Tottenham, but we didn't hang on to the lead long enough. It was probably not an opportunity lost, given the opposition.

Tottenham's Spanish coach Juande Ramos was delighted that the club had managed to secure the signing of Luka Modric from Dinamo Zagreb for £15.8m.

Modric has agreed personal terms with the club and is now waiting to pass a medical and be granted a work permit before the move is completed.

Ramos said: "There are a few things like the medical that needed to be finalised. If it goes through we will be delighted. I've seen him several times in games for his club.

"The club always try to sign good players; whatever players we sign will improve the squad. We always want to improve the squad and show our ambition.

"We don't have specific goals; we just want to finish as high as possible. We will continue to work on building our squad but there is no set date for these things."

Speculation continues to surround the future of striker Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov and although Ramos is desperate to keep him at the club, he knows the situation could become if a team makes a big bid.

Ramos added: "We know the situation of Berbatov and we are calm about it. If a team comes along and pays the asking price the chairman wants then possibly yes, but we're delighted to have him here."

I am definitely great looking forward to these upcoming games, and I am hoping that Bolton exceeds any and all expectations being set by fans, team members, and management alike. Honestly, I am expecting to see some very strong games within the near future!
