Scott: I've made a statement with Texas victory
Adam Scott revealed he made a statement that he could win without playing well after clinching the PGA Tour's Byron Nelson Championship in Texas on the third hole of a play-off against Ryan Moore. The Australian sunk a 48-foot putt on the 18th green to deny American Moore, who clawed back Scott's three-shot overnight lead.
And Scott insisted he would have liked to have played as Moore did but was happy with the 'ugly' victory, which the world number ten believes shows he can win when not at his best.
"In the end I think it (the statement) was to myself, I could actually win it when things weren't going my way," said Scott.
"But it wasn't quite the statement I had in mind. I would have liked to go out there and have played like Ryan played and won by a few.
"But conditions were tough and it was pretty easy to drop shots out there, I think. Scoring wouldn't have been very good today.
"You know, I got it in the end, but it wasn't as pretty as I may have hoped for.

His original statement sounded so cocky. I'm glad he qualified it. You have to be careful what you say to the press.

I thought Moore deserved to win but he just couldn't pull it out in the end. Scott didn't really deserve to win but as he said, it wasn't pretty but he pulled out the win in the end.
