O'Sullivan to face Hendry in Crucible semi-finals
Ronnie O'Sullivan will play Stephen Hendry in the semi-finals of this year's snooker World Championship after beating Chinese star Liang Wenbo 13-7 at the Crucible in Sheffield. The highlight of O'Sullivan's day was a stunning clearance of 137 in frame 13, but he rarely reached the heights of his stunning performance against Mark Williams.
Yet it was a professional display from the two-time world champion, and he will look forward to his tie with Hendry.
The seven-time world champion was just as clinical as O'Sullivan, defeating Ryan Day, also 13-7, in his quarter-final clash.
And Ali Carter advanced to the last four, picking up from where he left off the previous day, where he had notched a breathtaking 147, to defeat Peter Ebdon 13-9.
Carter will face the winner of the tie between Stephen Maguire and Joe Perry, which appears to be the closest of the quarter-finals, with the Scot, Maguire, leading 11-10.
