Sharks bite back at Stars in Conference semi-final

San Jose Sharks secured a narrow 2-1 win over Dallas Stars to ensure they were not swept in the Western Conference semi-finals. Dallas still lead the best-of-seven series 3-1, however, and will look to complete the victory in San Jose on Friday night.

Jere Lehtinen gave the Stars the lead in the second period, but Patrick Marleau levelled the scores before Milan Michalek sealed the win with a power play goal in the third.

Elsewhere in the NHL play-offs, Philadelphia Flyers beat top seeds Montreal Canadiens 4-2 to move to within one win of the Eastern Conference final.

RJ Umberger scored twice, with Scott Hartnell and Daniel Briere also on target to give the Flyers a 3-1 lead in the series going into game five in Montreal.
